E.J. Peiker announces the return of the SoCal DuckShopTM

 

 

Join E.J. Peiker to photograph Wintering migratory Ducks as well as numerous other species of birds in the mild climate of Southern California's Orange County.  This workshop, consisting of an evening of photographic instruction, a full day of shooting these beautiful creatures, an evening of Photoshop image preparation instruction, and a second day of bird photography.  We will be visiting the famous Bolsa Chica Preserve, Newport Backbay, and the San Joaquin Wildlife Preserve.

 

 

 

This DuckShops is a 2 evening, 4 shooting session workshop that will bring you in contact with many beautiful species of birds and allow you to get great photographs.  The DuckShop consists of a Friday evening of education on how to best approach and photograph ducks and other birds, instructed by E.J. Peiker.  Exposure, composition, and equipment will be covered thoroughly on Saturday evening.  A slide show of the various species you are likely to encounter along with descriptions of the photographic techniques required to get them will be presented.  This will be followed by a Saturday morning/afternoon and a Sunday morning/afternoon shoot.  On Saturday evening, E.J. will be covering Photoshop and post shutter production techniques to help you get the most our of your images.

Recommended Equipment:  35mm SLR or Digital SLR, 500mm or 600mm lens plus teleconverters, flash and a tripod or ground pod that can get low to the ground.   Note that a 500mm or 600mm with teleconverters is strongly recommended for this workshop.

Important Note:  This workshop should only be taken by healthy, physically fit individuals that have the ability to walk 3 to 5 miles per day with their equipment in warm temperatures.  In order to get some species, physical exertion is necessary.

The most convenient airport is John Wayne Orange County Airport, another, slightly less convenient option is Long Beach - note that these airports will save you lots of travel time compared to LAX.  They are served by most major carriers.

Cost:           $850 per person, maximum 4 persons per workshop.  Sessions will run with just two registrants and will run rain or shine. A $425 deposit is due to reserve your spot.  Deposit is refundable up to 60 days prior to the workshop.  Full payment due 60 days prior to the workshop.
